This is one of the best segments that I have seen yet on this show - or any other for that matter - regarding EXPLAINING THE HYPOCRISY concerning MEK.
The People's Mujahedin of Iran or the Mujahadeen-e-Khalq (MEK, also PMOI, MKO) is a militant revolutionary Iranian organization that was one of the leading participants of the 1979 Revolution that overthrew the Pahlavi Shah. It is now an opposition movement in exile, that advocates the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Canada, Iraq and Iran designate the MEK as a terrorist organization. The European Union and the United States formerly listed the MEK as a terrorist organization, but this designation has since been lifted, first by the Council of the European Union in 26 January 2009 (following what the group called a “seven-year-long legal and political battle”), then by a decision by U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton on 21 September 2012.
The MEK was removed from the terrorist lists because that designation is baseless and is merely attempts to appease the Iranian regime. The MEK denounced violence in 2001 and, in 2003, gave up its arms to the US-led coalition. Do you ever wonder why Hiliary Clinton, who was the First Lady of the Administration, which designated the group as a terrorist group, removed it from the list? Because the MEK has been cooperative and is NOT terroristic. In fact, the residents of Camp Liberty (formerly Camp Ashraf) have been victims of Iranian state terrorism for decades, even after they accepted their status under the 4th Geneva Conventions.
